So in case anyone was wondering, and I know that NO ONE reads my blog...lol
My dad has a call to California to serve in Simi Valley at my old elementary/middle school as the principal part-time. I could not be more excited about it(the call) becuase that means we might be leaving Michigan.
For my fellow Michiganders who are crying foul, please, this is not a reflection of you at all. I love you and the friends that I have made while in MI have been awesome awesome people. I greatly value and cherish each and every one of you. Moving to Michigan enabled me to go to undergraduate and graduate school for nothing(because I got all of my degrees from the same school where my dad was working). It provided me with opportunities to play a variety of insturments (organ, viola, horn singing) and try new things(swing dancing, bible study, Japanese food, going to Mackinac Island).
Michigan also provided me with many firsts. It provided me with my first car(awesome Nissan Maxima), my first full time job, my first lay-off and first unsuccessful venture into the unemployment agency. It also provided me with my first successful  dealing with the unemployment agency. It was the place where I got my first smartphone. It was the place where I did my taxes on my own and got them in WAY ahead of time(so that when April 15 came, I had already gotten my refund....YAYS). I truly loved the Fall. I loved the changing leaves and when spring/summer finally arrives and it stops raining.....it's beautiful. Honeycrisp apples are a gem! They are wonderful and I'm honestly going to miss them, because CA has some stupid ban on fruit from other places....i think but I'm not entirely sure.....those MI left turns were kooky but great!

Now, MI has been great in that way. Michigan has also caused me to toughen up(a little) about some things. The winter.....yeah, um, no thanks. Unfortunately,or fortunately, I got really good at driving in it...I wasn't one of the  people driving 70 when it was blizzarding but I didn't get into any accidents because of the weather( knock on wood). It was where I first learned about the term "windchill". Maybe they had that at Mammouth Mountain and we just ignored it....but seriously, some of the winters have been BRUTAL!!!!!! Ann Arbor taught me a lot about driving...people say CA drivers are bad....have you tried driving in AA??! And about no turn on reds....I get why you have that rule, but seriously it is the most annoying thing EVER! Also, the tornadoes. We never had one in AA while I lived here (THANK U JESUS) but there was one about 20 minutes up the road....scary. We've had sirens and hail and thunderstorms....but no tornadoes....yet. I get that space is limited but if you miss your exit in MI, then you can wait the 10 miles until another exit shows up...grrr
Things I miss about CA: The freeways. in general, as long as you have more than one person in the car with you, you are pretty golden...if not, you're fucked. Never mind the fact that 3/4 of the time, those were packed and trying to get anywhere not in your town almost always took at least 2 hours....AT LEAST. Also, the lovely person who invented overpasses, separate on ramps and offramps, and carpool lanes.....THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Now, I know, California is wayyyy bigger than MI and as such, has more room to build separate onramps and offramps....but seriously, who thought that it was a great idea to have people speeding up to match the 70MPH posted limit with people slowing down to match the 25 MPH exit limit??!?! not to mention the lane changes and merging??!  My family. Granted, I do have some relatives in MI and OH, the majority of the relatives that I am closest to almost all reside in CA or TX. The WEATHER...because DUH! THE BEACH AND AWESOME MEXICAN FOOD!! CARLSBAD.....amazing place

Things I'm not looking forward to in CA: Fires....they happen fairly regularly because of the Santa Ana winds and stupid people....earthquakes....they don't happen too often but sometimes they are scary
my old neighbors...history.....let's just say "We'll never be friends" at least they don't have a dog anymore....

my old room...sooo small.....oh well.... and the fruit trees.....at least we don't have the loliberry bush and the apricot tree is dead.....almost all of our trees are dead or dying...doesn't help that we (CA) hasn't had rain in a long time....a decent amount of rain.
